The news may not get much crazier than this. An ax-wielding man, who was demanding to hear an Insane Clown Posse song was arrested Monday after an hours-long standoff in front of Kiss 108 studios in Medford, Massachusetts.
According to WBZ-TV, a little after 1:30 p.m. Monday, police responded to 911 calls about a man in a red car who was wielding weapons and complaining about his failed attempt to request My Axe by the Insane Clown Posse.
The oddball in question was later taken into custody by SWAT teams and identified by police as 38-year-old Richard Newton. Newton surrendered to authorities and was taken to the hospital for medical (although mental would have been more effective) evaluation, Lt. Joseph Casey told the Boston Herald.
Dylan Sprague, the vice president of programming at iheartradio.com, which owns the radio station, told theBoston Herald, that Newton had never contacted the station about playing the song, but said employees heard him talking about it. “He definitely was talking about requesting a song,” Sprague said.
“He was obviously undergoing some sort of crisis,” Casey said.
