Today’s Space Weather: Earth bound flares more likely over next few days

sun and planets

Todays sunspot number is 117. Sunspot AR1719 is rotating onto the Earth side of the sun disc and harbors the energy for flares. It produced an M2 eruption on April 5th. Any flares today will not hit the Earth as the spot is too far over on the Suns eastern limb. The spot will move across the disc over the next few days making Earth bound flares more likely.
