The 217 Congressional Traitors Who Voted Against Restraining the NSA

congress

It should be no surprise, since the Congress betrays the voters again and again, but yesterday the Amash Amendment was narrowly voted down in the House of Representatives.

The Amash Amendment, co-sponsored by  Rep-Justin Amash (R) and Rep-John Conyers (D), would have taken away the NSA’s funding for the massive surveillance project that was recently exposed by Edward Snowden.  As well, the act would have prevented the NSA from using Section 215 of the unPatriot Act to justify the blanket collection of records, including telephone records “that pertain to persons who are not subject to an investigation under Section 215.”

The bill was only defeated by 12 votes.  (It’s interesting to note that 12 members of the House just didn’t find it important to vote on this matter:  Barletta, Beatty, Bustos, Campbell, Coble, Herrera Beutler, Horsford, McCarthy (NY), Negrete McLeod, Pallone, Rokita, and Schock.)

And here is the Traitor’s List…

Their justification, of course, is that the citizens of the country just don’t understand the need for complete surveillance.  After all, they’re just keeping us safe, right?

Considering the ire that was even heard in the mainstream media about the NSA’s overreaching and unconstitutional snooping, it’s a pretty fair bet that the “Representatives” are doing anything but “representing” the wishes of their constituents.
