Teen Waitress Granted Scholarship After Act Of Kindness

Eighteen-year-old Evoni Williams is just like any other teenager. She recently graduated high school and works at a Waffle House in La Marque, Texas, trying to save money for college.

Recently, however, this teenager’s life took an unexpected turn in a new and positive direction after she was photographed performing a simple act of kindness that led to the opportunity of a lifetime.

Williams was waitressing at Waffle House when one customer, Laura Wolf, captured a photo of her helping another 78-year-old customer, Adrien Charpentier, cut his food, Yahoo News reports.

“My hands are not up to par,” Charpentier reportedly explained. “If I want to cut my meat, I look like I’m stabbing it.”

The observer, Wolf, then posted the photo on Facebook with an inspiring caption. The post went viral, and both women were being contacted by various news sources for interviews. What happened next brought Williams to tears.

The story reached thousands of people, including representatives from Texas Southern University, who offered Williams $16,000 in scholarship money to help her pursue dreams of a career in business management.

But the gratitude did not stop there. The mayor of La Marque heard the story and made March 8, 2018, “Evoni ‘Nini’ Williams Day” in her honor, to remember her candid kindness.
