“Outrageous and Inhuman”: Video Shows Cops Never Gave Any Medical Aid to Tamir Rice, Tackled Sister and Cuffed Her

New, extended video has been released of the police shooting of 12-year-old Tamir Rice who was playing with a BB gun at a park in Cleveland.

In the clip, the cops are shown standing around Tamir and not providing any first aid or anything. When his 14-year-old sister comes running up, they push and tackle her to the ground, cuff her and put her in the squad car just feet from her dying brother.

The 30-minute clip, obtained by the Northeast Ohio Media Group after lengthy negotiations with city officials, clearly shows the girl running across snowy grass Nov. 22 at the Cudell Recreation Center. She is confronted by Officer Frank Garmback, who pushes her to the ground. Officer Timothy Loehmann, a one-year cop who shot Rice twice, joins Garmback and helps hold down the girl, the Northeast Media Group reported.

“This has to be the cruelest thing I’ve ever seen,” said Akron attorney Walter Madison, who represents the Rice family. He also called the video “shocking and outrageous.”

The boy did not receive any first aid from either police officer. In fact, he didn’t receive any aid until an FBI agent in no way affiliated with the Cleveland Police Department appears on scene sometime later. Tamir Rice was taken away by stretcher 13 minutes later. He died nine hours afterward at the hospital due to a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Rice’s death at the hands of police occurred just weeks before the Justice Department released a report on what the agency deemed was the Cleveland PD’s pattern of “unreasonable and unnecessary use of force.”

Madison told the New York Daily News the Cleveland officers, who have been put on restricted duty but are still working, showed “overwhelming indifference” as neither even attempted to try and save the boy’s life.
