Mars Rover Snaps Artificial Light Emanating From Mars: “Could Indicate There is Intelligent Life Below the Ground”

A mysterious picture of what appears to be artificial light emanating from the surface of Mars has been taken by the Curiosity Rover. Though NASA has yet to officially comment on the picture, observers and UFO researchers suggest it could well be evidence of life on the red planet.

Scott Waring of UFO Sightings Daily says the light, which is visible on the ridge line, is a natural effect and not lens flare or glare.

The light seems to be shooting straight up out of the ground, in almost plume-like fashion.

An artificial light source was seen this week in this NASA photo which shows light shining upward from…the ground. This could indicate there there is intelligent life below the ground and uses light as we do. This is not a glare from the sun, nor is it an artifact of the photo process. Look closely at the bottom of the light. It has a very flat surface giving us 100% indiction it is from the surface. (UFOSD)

A zoom of the image indicates that the light is, in fact, coming from some sort of opening on the surface.

The origin of the light source remains unclear, but the Houston Chronicle notes that there is the possibility, contrary to Scott Waring’s opinion, that it could be particulate matter.

A more serious source of this light, said blogger Phil Plait, is that “a subatomic particle smacked into the camera, leaving behind its trail of energy.”

And, though speculation at this point, Thunder Bolts suggests, via a previously released NASA report, that the light could be sourced from an electrified “dust devil.”

The NASA release described a typical dust devil on Mars as a “monster column towering kilometers high and hundreds of meters wide, 10 times larger than any tornado on Earth”.  Were an astronaut to come face to face with such a monster he would encounter “red-brown sand and dust whipping around faster than 30 meters per second (70 miles per hour)” as visibility dropped to zero. And the “scariest part” would be the incessant crackling and flashing of miniature lightning, the article reports.

The aforementioned NASA report was dated July 2005, which indicates NASA was aware of the light phenomena, though no photographic evidence of such an event has existed until now.

It is also possible that the report itself was released in the event the public ever did get access to photographic evidence such as what we see in the pictures above. It’s been long believed by some researchers that NASA has been actively working to keep a lid on evidence of UFO contact.
