Kerry Says: “We’ll help Iraq but won’t send in troops”

Shame the President and the other allied leaders didn’t listen to their own people back then. If they had, they wouldn’t have butted into someone else’s fight in the first place.

Kerry Says: “We’ll help Iraq but won’t send in troops”

Speaking in Jerusalem, John Kerry has stressed that although the United States will offer military support to Iraq, troops will not be sent to aid the government.

Increasing factional fighting and weekend reports that Fallujah had been taken by insurgents raised the question of further US and allied involvement in the country.

Many battles were fought between insurgents and US forces in and around Fallujah in 2004.

Currently, fighting is also reported in Anbar province and Ramadi, and there has been a huge increase in bomb attacks in Baghdad recently.

A massive exodus of residents is taking place after the government admitted it had lost control of Fallujah, and it was now in the hands of al Qaeda backed militants.

So, once again, Iraq is getting torn apart. The lasting peace that was supposed to reign after the removal of Saddam Hussein has not even arrived let alone lasted. Iraq, like much of the Middle East, is in turmoil.

“This is their fight” Kerry said when speaking in Jerusalem “We going to do everything that is possible to help them, and I will not go into the details except to say that we’re in contact with tribal leaders from Anbar province whom we know who are showing great courage in standing up against this as they reject terrorist groups from their cities. And this is a fight that belongs to the Iraqis. That is exactly what the President and the world decided some time ago when we left Iraq.”

Shame the President and the other allied leaders didn’t listen to their own people back then. If they had, they wouldn’t have butted into someone else’s fight in the first place.
