HuffPo Reporter Doesn’t Know What Border Patrol’s Job Is
Reporter Ryan Grim Tweeted that Border Patrol arrested someone here illegally because they have “nothing more pressing to do apparently”.
It all started when Huffington Post reporter Ryan Grim Tweeted this:
Here’s a photo of @joseiswriting in handcuffs, because the Border Patrol has nothing more pressing to do apparently pic.twitter.com/dN8KewqeZr
— Ryan Grim (@ryangrim) July 15, 2014
He’s talking about author and immigration activist Jose Antonio Vargas who was arrested yesterday by Border Patrol in McAllen, Texas because he is an undocumented immigrant who is here illegally.
No, Mr. Grim. Border Patrol is not supposed to have anything “more pressing” to do.
Despite current appearances (and the fact that it should go without saying), that’s why these agents are employed with Customs and Border Patrol in the first place — to secure our border by arresting immigrants who are here illegally.
Uproarious response to the ridiculousness of the Tweet did not go unnoticed by Twitchy with the article “‘Like, their job?’ HuffPo reporter doesn’t seem to understand what the Border Patrol is for”:
@derekahunter @ryangrim @joseiswriting “Don’t you border patrol agents have anything better to do than enforce border laws?”
— S.M (@redsteeze) July 15, 2014
Do you know what the words “Border Patrol” mean? @ryangrim @joseiswriting
— RB (@RBPundit) July 15, 2014
God forbid the Border Patrol enforce our laws and arrest criminals living here illegally. Not their job description or anything, @ryangrim.

Huffington Post also put out the article, “There Are A Depressingly Large Number Of People Who Want Jose Antonio Vargas Deported,” which garnered a mixed review from readers but included several on-point comments including that of Aaron Wynn Davis who wrote, “The fact that in the 17 years since he found out he was here illegally he did not seek to get a visa or other paperwork to allow him to stay in the country, paperwork which would have prevented his arrest, makes it hard to have much sympathy for him.”
Perhaps the more pressing issue here, though, is this follow-up Tweet by Grim:
TSA official tells me that it was border patrol who asked for @joseiswriting‘s papers. TSA had cleared him to fly.
— Ryan Grim (@ryangrim) July 15, 2014
Just think about that for a hot minute.
TSA, who spends the entirety of its lowly existence molesting and radiating innocent U.S. citizens day-in and day-out under this thin guise of omnipresent terrorism failed to stop someone in the country illegally from getting through security to get on a plane.
Just like TSA isn’t requiring ID for any of these illegal immigrants coming in during the border surge from getting on commercial flights.
That’s right. Apparently TSA is only here to apply security measures to legal Americans.
Yes, that absolutely does mean the “anti-terrorism” (read:unconstitutional) “security” Americans have been subjected to in our airports for last nearly 13 years are little more than security theater — and nothing more.
So think about that next time you hear about some three-year-old with spina bifida confined to a wheelchair begging her parents not to go to Disney World because she’s scared of the TSA:
