Jeremy Hammond is a hacker, a computer programmer and an activist. In December 2011 he hacked into the Stratfor servers, bulk-deleted documents and stole more than five million emails, which he passed on to WikiLeaks. He was turned in by a former hacking colleague known as Sabu – Hector Xavier Monsegur – who had become an FBI informant. Today he was sentenced to 10 years in jail for the hack – the maximum sentence possible after he entered into a plea bargain.
