First Reported Ferguson Riot Death: 20 Year-Old Man Shot
The first death amidst the chaos in Ferguson has been reported.
DeAndre Joshua, a 20 year-old man, was found dead in his car just yards from where Michael Brown was shot.
From USA Today:
At 9 a.m. Tuesday, a resident of an apartment complex spotted Joshua’s body inside a parked car, a white Pontiac Grand Prix, near Canfield Green Apartments, the same complex where Ferguson Police officer Darren Wilson shot Brown on Aug. 9. Blood-soaked shattered glass lay in a pile on the ground beside the car.
Family members are heartbroken and stunned:
“I’m still stunned because he never had any problems. He was a good kid,” relative Brian Joshua said, as other family members sobbed. “It’s like somebody just hit us with a brick.”
DeAndre Joshua graduated from high school and worked at Walmart, he said.
Details are still being released, but here’s what we know so far:
The driver’s side window of the car was shot out.
A nearby resident claims they overheard four people with guns talking about looting and killing someone Monday night.
The Conservative Treehouse is reporting that Joshua may have been murdered because he was a witness who testified in the Brown shooting case:
DeAndre Joshua, 20, fits the social profile of an eye-witness who gave a police/FBI statement and testified before the Grand Jury in the Mike Brown shooting case. He was an employed black male, with no history of drug use or illicit behavior. He was also a friend of Dorian Johnson who is currently under protection.
