Existence of Secret CIA Prison Divulged by Petraeus Mistress?

I know, I know. The CIA would never do anything in defiance of US law. And even if they did, polls consistently show that most Americans are okay with that, as long as the illegal activity is in support of national security. Ends justify means, as we all know. Heck, a majority of Americans would apparently submit to anal cavity searches from the TSA, according to a new poll commissioned by Infowars.com. So maintaining a few outlaw prisons here and there, to house Bad Guys only, that’s not really a big deal. I get it. Don’t shoot the messenger.

Aaron Klein reports that the mistress of General Petraeus, Paula Broadwell, may have let slip a tantalizing piece of information that was   supposed to remain secret. Klein writes:

During a question and answer session, Broadwell was asked about the September 11 attacks against the U.S. mission in Benghazi.

She stated: “Now I don’t know if a lot of you heard this, but the CIA annex had actually had taken a couple of Libya militia members prisoner. And they think that the attack on the consulate was an effort to try to get these prisoners back. So that’s still being vetted.”

The existence of a U.S. prison or CIA detention center in Benghazi would be a new development in the debate surrounding the attacks there.  The information does not appear to be publicly known.

A spokesperson for the CIA responded to the Daily Beast“The CIA has not had detention authority since January 2009, when Executive Order 13491 was issued. Any suggestion that the Agency is still in the detention business is uninformed and baseless.”

Because, you know, the CIA has a long history of obeying things like Executive Orders to the letter…uh huh. That sudden thirst for Kool Aid you feel is quite normal. Hey, if the impotent CIA would like to detain people, but can’t because of their scrupulous law-keeping, I hear FEMA may have some empty spaces just waiting for occupants. Maybe they could be persuaded to rent them out.

I’m not a betting man, but my guess is that this Petraeus thing, though it will be mostly ignored in the MSM and will come to nothing, will live forever on the internet, or until the gummint shuts that down. The Princeton job the General was offered in consequence of his resignation was likely the best of a couple of options, which may have included deals like sudden heart-attack or suicide in a DC park someplace.

I understand there are a lot of folks who think it’s unpatriotic to hold the Feds in anything other than worshipful esteem. If that’s you,  hey, enjoy your life; and, please say hello for me to the unicorns where you live. I tend to hold the opposite view, which comes directly from the Bible and takes seriously the fallen nature of mankind.
