Doorstep Weed Deliveries Coming to a Town Near You

Premium cannabis subscription club, Potbox—which runs a monthly subscription service for registered medical marijuana users—has now doubled its appeal by launching a home delivery service. Currently operating in San Francisco and Los Angeles, where recreational pot use is not legal, subscribers to the service must be registered medical marijuana patients.

Customers have a choice of different strains of weed, which are delivered with information about their genetic heritage as well as short descriptions of the type you may find on a fine wine.

For $149, the tasteful package contains a total of 10 grams of premium cannabis in small corked bottles, as well as two hand-rolled joints so people can get straight down to business.

Describing itself as a “premium cannabis subscription club,” the company prides itself on its ethically produced cannabis, which is grown on three farms in the Santa Cruz area. Potbox’s website boasts that  “Ethical cannabis is grown with the purest intention, with the well-being of the end-user and the environment at heart. It’s about carefully controlling all phases of the plant’s life cycle and creating a sense of stewardship over the entire process — from seed selection to harvesting, production and packaging. It’s about respecting the rights and the livelihoods of the people who cultivate and harvest our cannabis.

Once patients have signed up and uploaded their physician’s referral, they tell Potbox what they like and dislike and receive two different types of weed, both carefully selected by cannabis experts.

With medical marijuana use legal in 23 states across the U.S, the industry is booming. A high number of medical marijuana dispensaries in Santa Cruz are competing to offer high quality medicinal marijuana with patients in the area allowed to grow cannabis for personal use.

The cannabis collectives are also attempting to change cultural perceptions of pot as a viable and safealternative medicine for a range of medical conditions.
