Burglar calls 911 when homeowner pulls gun on him.

One point that is often overlooked in the mainstream media is how gun control laws actually empower violent criminals and encourage them to prey on the innocent, disarmed people who are dependent upon the corrupt and incompetent police force for their protection.

Recently in Springtown, Texas this simple truth was reconfirmed when James Gerow pulled a gun on a burglar, causing the intruder to call police and say that he was in fear for his life!  If there were strict gun control laws in Texas this situation could have ended up a totally different way.  Had he been disarmed he would have had no means to defend himself and his family.

James Gerow gave the the following description of events to a local news reporter:

“We are in there sound asleep and we hear the door pop,” he recalled.

It wasn’t a family member who was inside his Springtown home. Investigators say it was Christopher Lance Moore of Bedford.

“When I saw him, he walked over here… he looked in the bathroom… turned around and just walked right back out,” Gerow said. “I grabbed my .45, it’s loaded with hollow points, so it would not have been a good day.”

Gerow said he confronted Moore.

“He was coming around the corner, and I just pointed my gun at him, and I asked him, ‘Who are you and what are you doing?’ He had his hands on his keys and I said, ‘Gimme your keys,’ and I took his keys, and I told him to lay down, and he [said], ‘No, no, no!’ and he jumped in his truck and he sat out in his truck.”

In the midst of this altercation Gerow’s wife called 911, but for some reason so did the burglar.

When asked what his emergency was the Moore shouted into the phone saying:

“I’m not sure. I’m out in the country somewhere and some guy has a gun on me.”

At that same time another dispatcher was hearing Gerow’s wife yelling:

“Hurry up now, because my husband is fixin’ to shoot him.”

The local news channel also reported that:

Gerow said he didn’t back down; he cornered Moore with his gun, and blocked his way out.

“They both waited until Parker County deputies arrived. Moore was taken into custody and is now facing burglary charges.  Before help arrived, Gerow said he asked Moore why he came to his house.

“‘Were you trying to steal my stuff?’ ‘No sir, no sir.’ I said, ‘Were you trying to hurt my kids?’ ‘No sir, no sir.’ And I said, ‘Were you trying to hurt me or my wife?’ ‘No sir, no sir. Just bad intentions… bad intentions.’”  James Gerow and his family are grateful those intentions never played out.”

Gun control legislation is sold as a measure to protect the innocent from violent criminals, but like most government actions the outcome is actually the complete opposite of the stated goal. These kinds of measures actually give violent criminals the upper hand by removing the average citizen’s first line of defense. It seems obvious that violent criminals will be more inclined to attack others when they are less likely to encounter any kind of resistance. This being the case we can determine quite easily that gun control policies encourage violence and chaos within any society.

Even if you believe that the police are put here to help and protect us, which they are not, you must at least admit that they rarely prevent violent crime from happening; their job is only to hunt down and punish the accused party after the fact. Therefore, they cannot be depended upon in a random encounter you have with an attacker, you need to have some means of self-defense.

Even more importantly, the fact that anyone walking down the street could be armed, makes any mugger think twice before attacking someone. On the other hand, when very few people in a society are armed, the reward far outweighs the risk for those who seek to violate the rights and property of others.
