Border Patrol rescues child from man claiming to be his father

For months, Democrats have accused the Trump administration of abusing children who’ve been brought across the border illegally by families “just trying to give them a better future”.

But a Customs and Border Protection announcement on Tuesday shows who’s really abusing migrant children – and it’s not the Trump administration.

According to a string of tweets published Tuesday, Border Patrol agents apprehended a group of 12 illegal immigrants on July 17, including a man traveling with a boy he claimed was his son.

However, records showed the man had been arrested twice in the past month for illegal entry, so Border Patrol agents conducted a DNA test on the two.

Not only did the test show there was no familial relationship between the two, according to the CBP. When confronted with the evidence, the man admitted he was not the afther, but claimed that he had permission from the boy’s mother to take him. The CBP did not mention if they have been able to locate the child’s actual family yet.

“The man admitted that it is common knowledge in Honduras that if you bring a child, you will be released,” the CBP announcement stated.

Previous reports from CBP have indicated that nearly 1/3 of children coming across the border illegally are not biologically related to those claiming to be family based on results from Rapid DNA testing.
