Benghazi. How far will they go…

… to continue the cover up? Probably as far as they have to.
I’m not going to recount the Benghazi murders, beyond noting that the Commander-in-Chief had a fundraiser to attend in Las Vegas the morning after and needed his sleep so he couldn’t be bothered to check in on a terrorist attack at our mission at Benghazi. Heaven forbid we send help.
There are about 30 survivors of that attack who’ve been held incognito for fourteen months. They’ve not been allow to speak to the Congress. It’s rumored that they’ve been forced to sign non-disclosure statements about the attack. One thing is for sure, they owe their lives to Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty who disobeyed a stand down order and provided cover fire so that those survivors could be rescued.
Congressional oversight committees have been trying to speak to the survivors for fourteen months. They’ve been stonewalled by the State Department and the Obama administration. It looks like Sen. Lindsay Graham is going to try a new tack to gain access to them by putting a hold on ALL Obama administration nominees who need Senate approval until they get access to the survivors.
Let me note that I have almost as much disgust for Senator Graham as I do for John McCain, but on this issue he’s on the side of the angels.
The Obama administration faces a Senate hold on all of its upcoming nominees — including Fed chair nominee Janet Yellen and President Obama’s pick for Homeland Security secretary, Jeh Johnson — unless it makes Benghazi survivors available to be interviewed by appropriate committees in Congress.
A coalition of longtime advocates of a full Benghazi investigation is also demanding to see the FBI transcripts from the interviews conducted with the survivors some 48 hours after the Sept. 11, 2012, attack when they were flown to Germany.
The lack of independent access for congressional oversight nearly 14 months after the attack on the diplomatic facility is setting a chilling precedent, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said at a press conference with allies on the Hill Wednesday afternoon.
As long as Democrats control the White House we’ll never have the full story on this or a dozen other scandals, but maybe this will be a start. I hope so, but I’m not holding my breath. After all…
