Jonathan Schiralli took this amazing picture in Grand Forks, North Dakota. A minor geomagnetic storm was already in progress when another minor CME struck the Earths magnetic field. The combination produced some amazing auroras.

Sunspot AR1982 has the potential for M-class flares but is quiet at this point. NOAA estimates a 35% chance of M-class flares over the next 24 hours and a low 0.5% chance of X-class over the same period.

Todays sunspot number is 123.
