You’ll Never Guess Which Part of the U.S. Has the Most Draconian Gun Laws

The commonwealth’s legislature circumvented the court ruling by voting unanimously to impose a $1000 tax on all handguns.

When most American’s try to think of which states have the strictest gun laws, places like California, Illinois, and New York come to mind. Little do they know that the place with some of the worst gun laws isn’t a state at all. The overseas commonwealth known as the Northern Mariana Islands, makes the Left Coast look downright conservative when it comes to gun rights.

This is a place that for years has enforced a blanket ban on handgun ownership for civilians (despite the DC vs Heller ruling), and where concealed carry permits are never issued. Automatic and semi-automatic weapons are also outlawed, and the number of firearm calibers that civilians are allowed to own can be counted on one hand: .410 shotguns and .22 rifles. You can only buy ammunition if you have a firearm, and it must match the caliber of the weapon you own.

Unfortunately for the loons running this territory, a federal court ruled last month that their handgun ban, among other firearm restrictions, is unconstitutional. Their government isn’t done fighting for gun control however. The commonwealth’s legislature circumvented the court ruling by voting unanimously to impose a $1000 tax on all handguns.

Since the Northern Marianas Islands have a GDP per capita of $13,300, it will still be impossible for the average wage earner to buy a handgun. Don’t be surprised if this tactic becomes trendy among leftist state governments that need to work around the constitution and the courts to take away our rights.
