Watch: Sen. Ted Cruz demonstrates patience in meeting with Alyssa Milano to discuss gun control

Published on

Texas Senator Ted Cruz and actress/activist Alyssa Milano met on Tuesday to discuss gun violence in what was promoted as a civil discussion.

The face-to-face conversation came after Cruz and Milano’s heated Twitter exchange, which ended with Milano offering to meet with Cruz.

“I look at my children and I’m terrified. I don’t know how to keep them safe and it’s terrifying,” said Milano about the continuing problem of mass killings.

“If we can start from what I think should be a shared goal, which is to act to stop gun violence and stop mass murders like this in the future, then I think we can have a reasonable conversation about what policies are most likely to produce that,” said Cruz patiently.

He acknowledged both sides would likely have disagreements about how to reach that goal, but added that more needs to be done to keep people safe.

Following the meeting, Milano told media crews she felt the conversation was civil and was pleased with it. Parkland father Fred Guttenberg also participated in the conversation.
