Watch: John Oliver Just Destroyed the “Police Just Have a Few Bad Apples” Argument

Corporations are gleaning data off you every electronic step you take, but somehow, we still don’t officially know exactly how many times police kill people in America each year, let alone how many officer-involved shootings take place on a daily basis. Would you be shocked to find out the most comprehensive data on this actually comes from a random guy who set up a series of 48 Google alerts back in 2005?

Google alerts! That’s the highlight of so-called “accountability” on the police, who investigate themselves, in a country where less and less people are calling 9-1-1 these days if something happens because they actually don’t want the police state to show up at their door and potentially make their lives worse than their lives already are if they have to call 9-1-1 in the first place.

“Out of thousands of fatal police shootings since 2005, only 77 officers have been charged with murder or manslaughter, and, to date, only 26 have been convicted. And while the truth is, many police shootings are justified, 26 seems suspiciously low,” Oliver says, going off on the reality of the American police state.

Oliver blows the “it’s just a few bad apples” excuse we hear on the mainstream media all the time completely out of the water. Watch.
