The need to pull up one’s sleeve and work hard transcends all races, creeds and stations in life, including those of Maine’s first lady Ann LePage.

WGME in Portland, Maine, reported that diners were stunned when they saw the first lady recently begin waiting tables at a Boothbay Harbor to supplement her husband’s income and earn enough money for her own car.

Apparently, her husband, Gov. Paul LePage, earns about $70,000 per year, making him the lowest paid governor in the country. But rather than kvetch about this, the couple has clearly chosen a more proactive method — and they’re not the only ones.
