[VIDEO] Gary Taubes: How Big Government Made Us FAT

Science writer Gary Taubes has been trying to take on the sugar industry and the big government machine responsible for the obesity epidemic by educating the masses.  During an interview with Reason, Taubes details all the harm sugar has done to all of us; from igniting the slave trade to the current obesity crisis.

We have not been silent on the sugar industry’s role in the harm done to the physical health and well being of the majority of the American public. But many still don’t understand just how the big government is responsible for the obesity epidemic plaguing the globe.

Reason describes the video simply, breaking it down as: “The attack on fatty foods, in favor of carbohydrates, contributed to rising rates of obesity and diabetes.”  But the government played its role in helping the sugar lobby make sure that the public remained in the dark about real nutrition.
