Veteran With Concealed Carry Permit Saves Friends in Chicago

Here’s one of those stories the gun-grabbers never want to see the light of day: When an alcohol-fueled sociopath opens fire on a group of his friends – a veteran with a concealed carry permit pulls his weapon and fires two shots – stopping the maniac before anyone dies…

Including the lunatic.

And here’s the kicker: Had Friday’s shooting happened a year ago, he would not have been legally permitted to conceal carry his firearm, and he and his friends may very well be dead right now.

With the media crying out for more gun control laws, of course…Then you’d hear about it.

It began over the Fourth of July weekend in Chicago – where because of strict gun-control, murder is a blood sport these days – a veteran and his friends were leaving a party on the South Side. The Chicago Tribune takes it from there:

When the group reached their vehicle, a container with liquor was sitting on top of it. A woman from the group asked another group gathered next door who the liquor belonged to and removed it.

The move angered 22 year-old Denzel Mickiel, who approached the veteran and his friends shouting obscenities. The man then went into his residence and returned with a gun.

As Mickiel opened fire on the group, the veteran took cover near the vehicle’s front fender, and fired two shots, hitting Mickiel both times.

Mickiel was transported to the hospital and is in critical condition. A woman in the veteran’s group was hit twice – once in the arm and once in the back – but was stabilized and taken to the hospital. Mickiel is charged with attempted murder. Two of his friends also began shooting at the group, but they were able to flee the scene in their vehicle.

I’m sure this will be all over the news – so you’ve no doubt read far and wide about it… not.

Illinois was the last U.S. state to allow citizens to carry concealed weapons with a permit, finally passing a law on July 9, 2013. The state began issuing conceal carry permits in February.

Seven people died and approximately 50 were injured in shootings that took place in Chicago over the weekend. The city has among the highest violent crime rates among major U.S. cities.

Add these folks to the long, long list of Americans who owe their lives to a veteran, by the way…
