The United States has not commented on a BBC report that a US citizen has been shot and killed in the Libyan city of Benghazi.
Ronnie Smith, a teacher at the International School, was killed while out jogging in the Fweihat district of the city.
The Lebanon Daily Star has quoted a security source at the Benghazi Medical Center who has confirmed the teacher has died.
Although the deaths of other staff members have been announced on the schools Facebook page, there is currently no mention of Mr. Smiths death.
