America’s Wars Have Killed 20-30 Million People Since WW2

Throughout the Cold War, and up until the present day, the US government has portrayed itself as a purveyor of freedom and democracy across the world. However, when you take a look at the results of our foreign policy, it becomes clear that our government is nothing more than a purveyor of death and misery.

We Are Change recently examined all of the recent conflicts that our government has been engaged in, and came to a startling conclusion. Since the end of World War Two, our freedom spreading government has killed between 20 and 30 million people across the globe. The numbers were derived from any conflict that the US had a crucial role in, including countless covert proxy wars and revolutions. The wars that we had a direct role in, including Korea, Vietnam, and Iraq, were responsible for at least 10-15 million deaths.

The numbers were of course difficult to ascertain, in part because historians continue to change their casualty estimates. And in many of these smaller proxy wars, it’s hard to pinpoint the precise number of deaths that were directly related to the financial and material support that we provided. However, even if you try to make a conservative estimate, the death toll is still in the millions, and puts our government in the same tier as other totalitarian regimes from the 20th century.
