After a couple of false starts, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved a bill Thursday that would ban assault weapons, restrict the size of ammunition clips and require universal background checks on gun sales.

The Senate Judiciary committee has approved a bill that will ban assault weapons, limit the amount of ammunition allowed in a clip and demand full background checks on those buying guns. Feinstein whose bill went through 10 votes to 8 said:
“As I’ve said before,the road is uphill.”
