Trump Continues To Sow Division; Cancels Eagles Trip To White House

President Donald Trump canceled the Philadelphia Eagles visit to the White House citing the “anthem protests” the players participated in last season. Although the protest was never about the anthem or the flag or the troops, Trump continues to sow division by canceling the trip, rather than listen to the grievances that led to the protest in the first place.

It’s not like it matters much anyway. Numerous Eagles players had already declared they didn’t want to go to the White House because of Donald Trump anyway, and who could blame them after the narcissist spun the protests into a wild nationalistic propaganda campaign for his base. 

But of course, we can’t have people actually coming together and having real grievances against a country (those are just spoiled millionaires, not real people right?), so canceling the trip was the only thing Trump knew to do. The rest of us see it as nothing more than an authoritarian throwing a temper tantrum because some other humans, who happen to play football for a living don’t worship the same symbol the way Trump does. Yes, it’s that insane.

In a statement released by the White House, Trump referenced the ongoing national anthem issue and said that he will hold “a different type of ceremony” to celebrate America for the 1,000 fans who planned to attend the event.

“The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow. They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country. The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better. These fans are still invited to the White House to be part of a different type of ceremony — one that will honor our great country, pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it, and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem. I will be there at 3:00 p.m. with the United States Marine Band and the United States Army Chorus to celebrate America.”

If you read that as an edict from a dictator who instead of celebrating athleticism and actually caring why the Eagles players felt the need to “disrespect” a holy relic flag,  we are with you. But as the master of the USSA plantation, Trump gets to have his brand of nationalism shoved down the throats of everyone.

While statists continue to fight over which flavor of authoritarianism is better, the one where we must worship the flag of the government ( and yes, that’s what it represents according to its very own prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance “..and to the Republic for which it stands”) or the one where everyone is stolen from even more than now to pay for the “greater good,” (which always results in democide), the rest of us continue to wonder why neither side can see how fascist the entire system is.
