Trump acquitted on all charges in the Articles of Impeachment

Published on

The Senate senate voted to find President Trump not guilty on the first article of impeachment, abuse of power.

The vote was 52-48. GOP Sen. Mitt Romney was the only Republican to vote to convict Trump. He’s the first senator in US history to vote to convict a president from the same party in an impeachment trial.

On the second charge – Obstruction of Congress – the Senate again found him not guilty with a vote of 53-47.

The verdict went as expected given that Senate Republicans hold a 53-47 majority in the chamber, and the House provided a very weak case to back up their accusations.
