sun and planets

Todays sunspot number is 88

Departing sunspot AR1682 has not lost its magnetic field but any flares today would not hit the Earth square on. NOAA estimate the chance of M class flares at 10% over the next 24 hours and the chance of an X class flare at 0.1% over the same period.

There are likely to be geo magnetic storms over the next 24 hours as the solar wind blowing from a large coronal hole reaches our atmosphere.
