Todays sunspot number is 89
Once again the Sun is relatively quiet. With solar maximum just a few months away scientists thought there would be an uptick in activity by now. None of the sunspots harbor the magnetic energy to throw off flares at this point but as they move across the disc that could change. NOAA estimates the chance of an M class flare at 15% and an X class of 0.1% over the next 24 hours.
