Think Knock-Out Is a Fun Game? This Kid Got Shot by Someone Who Disagreed

The “Point-em-out, Knock-em-out” game that has been in featured in the news lately has been around longer than people may realize.

The “game” works like this: find an unsuspecting victim, sneak up on them, and punch them. The goal is to knock the victim out.

Teenagers who play the game often film themselves knocking people out and post the videos on the internet. Unfortunately, this has led to an increase in popularity and the game is spreading across the country.

In some cases, the attacks have been fatal.

Most of the time, the victim doesn’t see the attack coming and can’t prevent it.  Once they are down, they are down: videos of the attacks show victims lying motionless on the ground while the perps skip away laughing.

But one man was lucky enough to be able to fight back.

In February, a Lansing, MI man was attacked by 17-year-old Marvell Weaver. The man (whose identity is not being revealed for his protection) told WILX 10:

“He shoved something into my side. I wasn’t sure what it was. It had some force to it. I wasn’t sure if it was a knife or a gun.”

The item was a taser, and thankfully it didn’t work. The victim was able to protect himself with his concealed-carry .40 caliber pistol. He shot Weaver twice – in the leg and an inch away from his spine.

Weaver was sentenced to a year in jail for the attack.  He says he wishes he never played the game at all, and that his experience was a lesson learned. The incident that ended with him shot and in jail was not his first time playing the game. He and his friends played a few times prior:

“Not many, six or seven. It wouldn’t be an every day game, just a certain game to be played on certain days. You don’t even try to rob them or anything. That’s the game.  They weren’t my normal group of friends. Someone just throws it out there and people go along with it. One thing leads to another and it just goes all down hill,” said Weaver.
