The Government and Trayvon: Focus on the Right Hand, Ignore the Left

Remember when Obama famously (or infamously) said “If I had a son, he’d look like Travyon”?

That was March 2012, right after an altercation between George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin ended in Martin’s shooting death. Presidents do not typically interject themselves so personally in murder cases like this.

While this case has been used in all kinds of political ways to further various agendas, Truthstream Media has preferred not to report on it because, overall, we feel it is purposefully being pushed in the 24/7 news cycle to distract people from the bigger, more tyrannical issues taking place in high levels of government that are directly impacting every single one of us living in this country every day.

Now that Zimmerman has been found not guilty and the shooting ruled a self-defense, Obama has come forward to take his personal involvement in Trayvon’s death one step further — it’s splashed all over the news today that he said, “Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago.”

Again, the mainstream media has gone nuts over this statement. It’s everywhere repeated hundreds of times. Has a president even personally commented and placed this much focus on a murder case since 9/11? It’s hard to think of an instance that would fit the bill.

In the wake of the Zimmerman verdict, Obama has also said we need to ask ourselves “if we’re doing all we can to stem the tide of gun violence.” Surely there’s no 2nd Amendment-related agenda there.

Meanwhile, former Congressman Col. Allen West brought up the fact on Fox News that two African American teens shot an unarmed Caucasian baby in the face with a .22 caliber pistol with little fanfare from any media or politician anywhere. West also noted:

“Once again, you see a media and you see many people out there that are stoking the fires of quote unquote ‘race’ because they really are concerned about keeping that at the forefront to keep this country divided because of a collective mindset.”

West brings up a good point and an even better question. Where is the mainstream media on that baby’s death? They aren’t. Where is the president giving his personal opinion on it? He’s not.

The truth is, regardless of race, horrible acts of violence do happen every day. It’s a sad reality.

What’s worse, though, is the obvious cherry picking and politicization of this specific case being pushed through what the Brookings Institute calls “CNN Effect” or “CNN Syndrome” to garner an emotional response from the public.

And again, it feels like we are watching a magic show where the guy on stage is wooing the audience into putting all their focus on the right hand so they will not notice what the left hand is busy doing.

Case in point: Eric Holder and the Department of Justice (DOJ) has announced this week it will carefully sift through Zimmerman trial testimony and evidence in what the Huffington Post describes will likely be a “a months-long investigation” in search of a potential racial motive in Trayvon Martin’s death.

(This is the same Eric Holder who recently came out to say that ‘big banks may be too big to prosecute,’ by the way.)

Where is the DOJ investigative task force when it comes to Benghazi? Oh, that’s right, representatives are now asking the Obama administration why Benghazi survivors were asked to sign non-disclosure agreements to prevent them from talking about the attack.

Where is the DOJ investigation delving into why the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) admittedly targeted conservative groups? The IRS has since apologized and admitted the inappropriate targeting of those groups during an election year, but so far, no one has really been held accountable for such outrageous behavior. In fact, one of the main IRS officials at the center of the scandal has since been PROMOTED and now runs the IRS Obamacare division!

Where is the DOJ flashing it’s bat symbol and rushing investigators to look into the implications of the National Security Administration (NSA) wholesale spying on the American people as if the Constitution and Bill of Rights do not even exist? That’s right, our president has said that we have to trade our liberty for security and his attorney has officially gone on record to say these NSA programs are “legal”.

Keep your eyes on both the magician’s hands, ladies and gentlemen. Who knows what other tricks he has up his sleeve or what he’s going to show us next.
