The expected CME hit the earths magnetic field at 20:00 UT and a strong geomagnetic storm is in progress.
The expected CME hit the earths magnetic field at 20:00 UT and a strong geomagnetic storm is in progress. The initial impact was weaker than expected considering the short time it took to get here. This level of storm is two short of the maximum which is classified by NOAA as ‘extreme’.
NOAA has announced the geomagnetic storm as a G3 event.
