Teacher’s Union Actually Fighting for Severance Pay of Convicted Child Rapist

Victim’s father: “It’s completely ludicrous! Are they nuts in the head? How can the union file a grievance and back a child molester?”

Neal Erickson, former Rose City Middle School math teacher, was sentenced to 15-30 years in prison for first-degree criminal sexual conduct this past July for raping a male student over a three-year period of time, starting when the victim was just 12 years old.

Now the Michigan Education Association (MEA) is going to arbitration in an attempt to force the West Branch-Rose City school district to pay him a $10,000 severance, as the school board has refused to pay it (for what seem like pretty obvious reasons).

In regards to the MEA’s decision, the victim’s father told EAGnews, “It’s completely ludicrous! Are they nuts in the head? How can the union file a grievance and back a child molester? We’re very upset about it. What are you going to say when you’re backing a child molester? I mean, this starts it all over again. It just sickens us. If anything, that money should go to my son, who is out there trying to make it in this world all messed up.”
