Student faces expulsion for pulling gun on apartment invader, even though he had concealed carry permit

Two students at Gonzaga University may be expelled after pulling a gun on someone trying to force his way into their on-campus apartment, even though the student has a concealed weapons permit for the gun.

While the anti-gun hysteria in schools is more frequently noted to manifest in the form of suspensions of children for acting like children, this indeed seems to be an example of gun control efforts gone too far.

The Gonzaga University student handbook says that students may not possess handguns on campus or other property owned by the university, according to USA Today.

University officials say the policy is in place to protect the safety of students. In this case, however, students are facing punishment for protecting themselves.

A discipline board at the university decided to move forward with sanctions against the students on Friday, which could potentially include expulsion.

The incident at issue occurred on Oct. 24, involving a felon who was demanding money, according to the students.

When the students turned the unidentified individual down, the individual became angry and apparently attempted to force his way into their apartment.

Now the students could be kicked out of school for defending themselves. Dan McIntosh, one of the students involved in the incident, has a concealed weapons permit for the handgun and at the time did not know it was a violation of school policy.
