Space Weather: Lyrid Meteor Shower Starting
Usually the shower is mild (10-20 meteors per hour) but unmapped filaments of dust in the comet’s tail sometimes trigger outbursts ten times stronger. Forecasters expect the peak to occur on April 21-22.
Todays sunspot number is 97. NOAA estimate a 15% chance of an M-class flare during the next 24 hours and a 0.1% chance of an X-class during the same period.
