Four people were shot and killed and over a dozen were wounded late Sunday in a shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in Gilroy, California.

Police and emergency personnel responded to reports of an active shooter incident at Gilroy’s Christmas Hill Park about 5:40 p.m. and at 10:30 p.m. the situation was still active, according to Gilroy police.

Multiple officers from the surrounding community’s along with over two dozen FBI and ATF agents are working to locate a second subject believed to be connected to the shooter. Police could not give a description of the suspect, nor are they certain exactly how he is connected.

Several videos of people running away from the shooter or shooters quickly appeared on Twitter:

Gilroy Chief of Police, Scot Smithee, said the suspect cut through a wire fence surrounding the festival grounds in order to avoid walking through the metal detectors at the entrance to the festival. Witnesses said the suspect was wearing camouflage clothing and some mistook him for police until he opened fire.

Among the deceased were the shooter and at least one child.

Police said during a brief news conference around 10:15 p.m. that they expect to work through the night and would have more answers at an as of yet unscheduled morning news briefing.
