Scientists Claim This 3D Model Proves the Photo of Lee Harvey Oswald Holding the Rifle Is Real

By now, the fact that there was a conspiracy in the death of President John F. Kennedy is hardly disputed by anyone (anyone who doesn’t have a vested interest in the cover up, that is).

Still, every fall just before the anniversary of JFK’s assassination, stories magically begin seeping out of the woodwork in an attempt to, if even halfheartedly, support the official lie somehow.

First we had reports that the CIA admitted — admitted! — that then-CIA Director John McCone lied — lied! — to the Warren Commission during its investigation.

(Wait, the CIA lies? As if this is somehow “news”.)

The story went on to tease out McCone’s “benign cover up,” lying by omission to the commission about previous plots by the agency to assassinate Fidel Castro. As if the fact that Allen Dulles, CIA Director from 1953 to 1961 who just so happened to BE ON THE WARREN COMMISSION, didn’t already know that.

Well, remember that completely staged looking photo of accused JFK assassin Lee Harvey Oswald holding a rifle and a Marxist newspaper in his backyard?

The photo, later named 133-CE, was reportedly taken by Lee Harvey Oswald’s wife Marina March 31, 1963.

Many people, including Oswald when shown the photo later in jail before he himself was murdered by Jack Ruby, have claimed this photograph is a complete hoax start-to-finish.

At the very least, someone obviously tampered with the photo somewhere down the line. Notice the two versions above. The one on the left which appeared on the cover of LIFE and the one on the right which ran in the Detroit Free Press. While Oswald holds the exact same pose in both photos, the sniper scope is missing from the rifle in the DFP version.

This, too, has been explained away:

The variations (and accidental erasure of the sniper scope) were caused by photo editors touching up the photo in different ways in order to heighten the contrast between dark and grey areas. This was a common practice in the publishing industry at the time, due to the limitations of the printing process.

Wait, accidental erasure of the sniper scope? Not addition of? In case where a man supposedly sniped the president? Seriously??

Various other reasons for hoax claims include inconsistencies in everything from bodily proportions to lighting and shadows, such as those around Oswald’s face. Many say his head was added on at a later date.

Well, the new story out just in time for another JFK assassination anniversary is that the verdict on the photo is officially in: now, “scientists” have used computer remodeling to “prove” the picture of Lee Harvey Oswald holding a rifle and a Marxist newspaper is real.

See? This, this right here, apparently proves it once and for all.

According to a study by led by Dartmouth computer science professor Hany Farid published in the Journal of Digital Forensics, Security, and Law, this right here once and for all proves this photo of Oswald is 100% authentic.

“Our detailed analysis of Oswald’s pose, the lighting and shadows, and the rifle in his hands refutes the argument of photo tampering,” Farid says in a Dartmouth press release.

The funny thing about this is that, ultimately, it makes absolutely no difference to the fact that a conspiracy went down either way if this oh-so-perfect piece of agitprop is real or not.

In fact, let’s pretend the photo is real — it only lends credence to the story that Oswald was a perfectly set up patsy, does it not?

And, come on guys. Where, oh where, have we seen these kind of tactics before (and much more recently)?
