Russia Puts Fighter Jets On Alert

With Russian missiles based in Kaliningrad, a mere 1,000 miles from London, it’s to be hoped that the three way pissing contest between Russia, the EU and the USA is defused before someone decides to prove that actions speak louder than words.

Russia Puts Fighter Jets On Alert

Reports on UK mainstream news outlets point to Russia putting fighter jets on alert along the Ukraine border. Armed men have taken over government buildings in Crimea and Ukraine security forces have cordoned off the area.

Early this morning, according to the BBC ,the Russian foreign ministry said it was concerned about:

“massive violations of human rights in Ukraine”.

Ukraine’s acting president Oleksandr Turchinov has appealed for calm, and branded the armed raiders as “criminals in military fatigues”.

He also urged Russian forces to leave their base in southern Crimea, warning failing to do so “would be considered a military aggression”.

President Vladimir Putin has put the military on alert for major exercises and announced measures to tighten security at the headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet in Crimea.

The move prompted a rebuke from US Secretary of State John Kerry who warned Russia against any military intervention in Ukraine.
