RT is reporting that the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Group has shut down all of the news outlet’s bank accounts with its partner NatWest in the UK. RT says RBS is denying all services at this point.
This Tweet (notice the translation) was sent out by RT Editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan earlier today:
RT claims it received a message from NatWest at its London office which said, “We have recently undertaken a review of your banking arrangements with us and reached the conclusion that we will no longer provide these facilities.”
UK broadcasting regulator Ofcom claims that RT is just a mouthpiece for the Kremlin and reported “materially misleading” information in a report regarding claims that the BBC “staged” a chemical weapons attack in Syria.
Then again, the BBC is just a mouthpiece for the UK government, so…
