Risk Of Flares Down But New Coronal Hole Appears
A large coronal hole has opened up and the solar wind flowing from it will deliver a glancing blow on May 27-28th.
Todays sunspot count is 99 and although both AR1755 and AR1756 have enough energy to produce M-Class flares NOAA estimate the chances of them doing so over the next 24 hours to be 25% with a very low 0.1% chance of X-Class flares during the same period.
The CME hurled out on the 22nd May has as expected triggered a geomagnetic storm that’s still in progress, those in high latitudes should be on the look out for auroras tonight.
