Sunspot AR1967, which was called AR1944 before it traversed the far side of the sun, is still crackling with activity and is producing an M-class flare on average every two hours.

None of the flares are earth directed at this point, but they will be during the coming days.

In light of this heightened activity, NOAA has elevated the estimates of flares to 60% for an M-class and 10% for an X-class over the next 24 hours.

Todays sunspot number is 70.
