Police: Maryland High School On Lockdown, Shots Fired

Two were people were reportedly shot and both were transported to local hospitals. The alleged shooter was reportedly shot and taken down by an armed school resource officer.

Great Mills High School in Maryland has been placed on lockdown after a shooting Tuesday morning, police confirmed.

Maryland State Police and ATF special agents announced they are responding to the incident, Fox News reported. The school is located in St. Mary’s County.

Maryland Democratic Gov. Larry Hogan released a statement, minutes after the news broke.

“We are closely monitoring the situation at Great Mills High School. MDSP is in touch with local law enforcement and ready to provide support. Our prayers are with students, school personnel, and first responders,” Hogan said in the statement.

Two were people were reportedly shot and both were transported to local hospitals. The alleged shooter was reportedly shot and taken down by an armed school resource officer. The school resource officer was not injured.

The two shot were students at the school, and remain in critical condition. The name of the shooter has not yet been released.
