Police Chief To Be Tasered To Raise Money For New Patrol Car
Police Chief Danny Baker has agreed to be tasered to raise funds for a new patrol car. The 63 year old admitted the stunt was rater extreme but with one working patrol car, and no money in his reduced budget to buy one, he said something had to be done.
He told reporters:
“It’s a shame we have to go to the extent of having fundraisers and getting electrified and so forth. But with small-town budgets you have to do something to get by.”
Chief Baker of Knightstown Indiana is no stranger to police fundraisers. An annual hog roast raises about $5000 a year, with the money buying new digital cameras for patrol cars and blood-testing kits for his department.
He hopes his taser stunt will raise $9000 for a new patrol car. Although entry to the event is free, and a police dog handling demonstration is included, he is hoping that people will donate cash after seeing the lengths he has gone to raise money for the police department.
