Now Saudi Arabia Has Bombed a Doctors Without Borders Hospital in Yemen

UPDATE: Though widely reported in the press as a Saudi airstrike, Saudi officials are now denying responsibility.

The US changed its story four times (at least) on why it bombed a civilian hospital staffed by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) otherwise known as Doctors Without Borders, in Kunduz, Northern Afghanistan earlier this month. Twenty two people died, including 12 staffers and 10 patients (three of whom were children) — and injuring 37 other people. Twenty four staff are still missing.

Now news just broke that Saudi Arabia bombed another Doctors Without Borders hospital last night, this time in northern Yemen.

Luckily only two doctors were “lightly wounded” and no one died this time. Reportedly everyone had just enough time to run to safety before another missile hit the maternity ward.

“Our hospital in the Heedan district of Saada governorate was hit several times. Fortunately, the first hit damaged the operations theater while it was empty and the staff were busy with people in the emergency room. They just had time to run off as another missile hit the maternity ward,” MSF country director Hassan Boucenine told Reuters by telephone from Yemen.

This is, yet another, war crime, and pretty much everybody knows it.

UNICEF said the hospital in Saada was the 39th health center hit in Yemen since March. “More children in Yemen may well die from a lack of medicines and healthcare than from bullets and bombs,” Executive Director Anthony Lake said in a statement.

But they just keep justifying it by claiming terrorists might be hiding in these hospitals, so they have no choice but to bomb hospitals.

Gee. Kinda makes you wonder who the terrorists really are.

In related news, a Saudi prince was just detained yesterday in connection with attempting to smuggle two tons of the drug Captagon, otherwise known as “ISIS’ drug of choice,” on his private jet. Sales from the drug are thought to be funding ISIS, which might explain why they’re always seen driving around in a fleet of relatively new Toyota trucks.
