That whole overthrowing Assad regime change plan is quickly devolving into the plot of a bad action comedy TV show. Buzzfeed is reporting that America is now openly engaged in a proxy war with itself in Syria.
Syrian rebel battalions that have been cashing not-so-covert-anymore checks from Uncle Sam are currently engaged in fighting other Syrian rebels who are also being supported with cash and weapons by the U.S. government.
The confusion is playing out on the battlefield — with the U.S. effectively engaged in a proxy war with itself. “It’s very strange, and I cannot understand it,” said Ahmed Othman, the commander of the U.S.-backed rebel battalion Furqa al-Sultan Murad, who said he had come under attack from U.S.-backed Kurdish militants in Aleppo this week.
Meanwhile, all the countries who have been sucked up into this situation are teetering on World War III-level talk, and Saudi Arabia and NATO are both holding giant military exercises as if they’re gearing up for it.
Guess that’s what the plan was all along. And the American government just keeps throwing millions upon millions of dollars at Syria while the whole thing gets overtly sitcom-level ridiculous. Speaking of, ISIS just declared the US dollar to be their official currency.
What a surprise.
