Nikki Haley blasts ‘disgusting’ silence of Dems about Mexican flag raised at Colorado ICE facility

On Sunday, Nikki Haley blasted Democrats for their refusal to criticize protesters’ disrespectful pulling down of the U.S. flag and replacing it with a Mexican flag at an ICE facility in Aurora Colorado on Friday.

Effectively speaking on behalf of at least half the country, the former UN ambassador wrote: “There are no words for why the Democrats are staying silent on this. If this is your way to winning an election, fire your strategist. This is disgusting. Love your country. And if you don’t like what is happening then tell the members of Congress to get to work and fix it.”

In addition to replacing the American flag, the protesters in Colorado took down a Blue Lives Matter U.S. flag, spray-painted it with the words “Abolish ICE: and raised it back up the pole upside down.

Democrat 2020 candidate, former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper sidestepped the issue of whether he condemned the act of debasing the flag when he told Fox News:

“You know I’m old enough, I remember when people were burning the flag in protest of the Vietnam War,” Hickelooper continued. “The amazing thing about this country is we’re really one of the few places on Earth where that level of freedom of speech is still protected. “I might not approve of it, but I think that freedom is something that we as Americans should recognize and say, hey, that’s part of our core freedom.”

Fox anchor Leland Vittert pushed for a more direct answer, asking: “Are you willing to say that doing that, and ripping down the American flag over a facility and running up the Mexican flag, is wrong, doesn’t send the right message, isn’t going to unite us, which you say is so important?”

“I think there are better ways to unite us,” Hickenlooper replied. “There’s no question about that.”

Senator Ted Cruz suggested that every Democrat candidate for the party’s 2020 presidential nomination be put to the test on how they see the issue of flying the Mexican flag in place of the U.S. flag. He knowingly pointed out they would want to “virtue signal” their support for the protesters, but would they go that far during their campaign when they know there are Democrats out there who don’t agree?

Former ICE supervisor Brian Piccolo said during an interview on FOX, “It disgusts me … to see this happening on our soil. And you know the police were likely told to stand down, as well,” Piccolo said. He went on to talk about the extreme difficulty current ICE officers are having in trying to enforce laws that were passed over many years in bipartisan legislation, to include during the Obama administration, yet are being subjected to abuse at this time of crisis.

Some on Social Media have suggested that it is an act of war to replace the flag of one nation with another.
