New Video Game Lets Players Fight off ISIS Invasion of Europe

As you might expect, the media has railed against the game, calling it right wing and Islamophobic.

The refugee crisis has clearly left an indelible mark on the culture of Europe. Despite the best efforts of the government and the media, the people of Europe are beginning to see these migrants as invaders rather than desperate refugees. People are so fed up and frightened by these unassimilated migrants, and by the likelihood that ISIS is among them, that one Polish video game company thinks that there is a market for a game like IS Defense.

As you might expect, the media has railed against the game, calling it right-wing and Islamophobic. Vice went so far as to call it Islamophobia: The Game. “IS Defense, like Donald Trump in the United States and nationalist parties across Europe, is blaming refugees for the crimes committed by the people they’re trying to escape.”

The CEO of the game’s developer, Destructive Creations, has been accused of xenophobia in the past for liking a nationalist Facebook group. During an interview with Vice, Jarosław Zieliński defended his beliefs, saying “I still don’t get what in actual f*** is wrong about nationalism? People confuse and mix that term, making it equal to Nazisim, fascism, and chauvinism. There’s nothing wrong about being patriotic and dedicated to take care of your people and culture.”

Perhaps everyone should stop and take a breather, and then realize that somehow a very simplistic and over the top game about killing terrorists has become controversial.
