Over 100 People Dead After Crane Falls on the Grand Mosque in Mecca

Update: The news is now saying it’s 107 dead…

Figures continue to change, but it is currently being reported that at least 87 people have been killed and over 180 more wounded after a giant crane fell and crashed on the Grand Mosque in Mecca.

Today’s weather there was very windy and rainy. As the Grand Mosque is currently undergoing construction, there are lots of cranes all about. All the reports make the situation sound like a recipe for disaster considering how many people are set to visit Mecca in the coming days.

The Islamic Hajj to Mecca is set to start on September 22nd, and up to three million people go there each year.

The video below reportedly shows the moment the crane crashed.
