Mueller Agrees To Publicly Testify Before Congress
Special Counsel Robert Mueller has agreed to testify before the House Judiciary and House Permanent Select Committees on July 17 in an open session. The announcement comes after House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and House Permanent Select Committee Chairman Adam Schiff sent a letter to Mueller with subpoenas requiring the Special Counsel to make an appearance.
“Pursuant to subpoenas issued by the House Judiciary and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence tonight, Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III has agreed to testify before both Committees on July 17 in open session,” the Chairmen said in a statement.
Although Mueller is reluctant to testify about what took place, he said he’d respect the subpoena.
House Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff tells reporters Mueller was reluctant to testify but
“He has agreed to honor the subpoena.”
Adds that Mueller will testify before Judiciary and Intel Committees separately but “back to back.”
