MI6 Spy’s Death Was an Accident…Oh Really?

A fit young guy is found dead, his naked body stuffed into a sports bag in an empty bath tub. The bag is padlocked from the outside, and there are no defects or holes in the bag. He just happens to work for MI6 and no cause of death can be found.

Gareth Williams was 31 when he died in August 2010. A codebreaker with MI6, he died in his London flat and no cause of death has been found.

A coroners inquest ruled unlawful killing, but the Metropolitan police said an evidence review had found it was more probable that Mr. Williams was alone in his flat when he died.

Gareth Williams was found naked and dead inside a sports holdall that had been placed in the bathtub. The tub was empty and as previously stated, the post-mortem failed to find the cause of death.

The bag was padlocked from the outside.

He was on secondment to GCHQ, the UK equivalent of the NSA, at the time of his death. He didn’t turn up for work, didn’t call in, had no contact with his friends yet it took MI6 over a week to start an investigation as to where he was.

Of course it was an accident, what else could it possibly be?
